Christmas Eve and I’m at work listening to Christmas Carols on the radio remembering days past.  Especially when I was in the service.  Moving through airports or foreign countries trying to find some semblance of holiday spirit.  At times it was tough.  I spent a LOT of time overseas during the holiday season.

There was always one thing I could count on.  See, I’m a gummi bear junky.  Love them.  My Mom would always send me 1lb of gummi bears at Christmas time and you have no idea how hard it is to eat stale gummi bears with tears streaming down your face.  The point is I always knew someone cared.

US Air Force, US Army, US Navy, US Marines, and US Coast Guard.

Please remember one thing this holiday season.  That US in the front of the name means United States.  They are there for us no matter what time of year it is.

If you happen to run into a military person this holiday season, PLEASE just walk up to him or her and say, “Thank You, Have a Happy Holidays and Stay Safe.”  That’s all.  We tend to get so embroiled in our lives that we forget most of the time.  You will make that persons day and possibly year if you say those words to them.  When you’re done, shake their hand and walk away.  No need for discussion.  They know the conflicts our nation is involved in aren’t popular.  They just need to know that you are there for them and someone cares.

IF you wish to make a donation to an organization try this one:

Treats for Troops

They do holiday and birthday packages and you can even sponsor a Sailor, Soldier, Marine, or Airman of your choice.

IF not a donation because times are tough remember these people in your prayers.  They can use all the help they can get.

Stay safe this holiday season folks.  Enjoy life and remember those that are out there or have been out there, making sure you can enjoy them!
